I was just wondering - my cousin is due to have her 2nd baby in a couple months - and people in our family want to throw her a baby shower (she had a huge one for her 1st baby too, which was a boy and this baby is a boy as well). Is this really proper ettiquette? I guess I always just thought it was for the first baby.
her kids will only be 3 years apart… they still have everything from the first one - clothes, supplies, furniture, everything - and they are financially, very well off.
Laurie B - see that’s the thing - I’m due at the same time as my cousin (with our 2nd baby), and they’re not giving me a shower - just her - and we are not financially well like they are.

I am searching for a unique baby shower favor to give to the guests at my shower in May. It is a fairly large shower (over 50) so I am looking for something that isn’t too expensive! I really want something different that they will appreciate or can have as a keepsake. PLEASE I would really appreciate any ideas that you may have!

What should I include in a baby shower gift? (mom’s what did you really like?)?

I want to really do a good job in finding a practical but unique gift. I have heard that getting a baby bath tub and filling it with the essentials are one of the favorites among new mom’s. What should I include? I thought about doing the full bath tub but I really don’t want to have a duplicate gift. (this gift being something that is recommended on a LOT of websites) The mom is having her first child and doesn’t know the sex. I have a pretty strong feeling that most of the guests are going to be super excited about buying baby clothes (because lets face it, its so much fun) but I wanted to buy something practical and useful because in buying clothes you are guarateeing not much use because babies grow SOOO fast. She is due the first part of May. The shower is the 18th, any ideas?
I want to spend under 50 bucks. Preferably closer to 30. THANKS!

My husband and I disagree on baby names?

Ok, we’re planning on having a child, but the problem is, we have exactly the opposite taste in baby names. He prefers the simple, boring names (ie, John, Jessica -sorry if this offends anyone
) and ever since I was young, I always wanted to name my children Gaelic names (Saoirse for a girl (pronounced SEER-sha), or Niamh (NEEV), etc ) but he is absolutely refusing to budge. What would you all suggest?
Thanks all for the advice, but to those who think I’m trying to be UNIQUE and different, just get over yourselves ok? My family is Scottish and this is a way to preserve my heritage. In addition, we live in a VERY multicultural city - Toronto, where there are people of all different backgrounds, sometimes with VERY different names. Somehow I see a hard time imagining that a Saoirse would get picked on while a Sundeep is left alone. Besides, I could name her something common as Jill, and kids could think of ANYTHING to make fun of that. I think a name is a gift, and I’m not going to make my choices SOLELY on what will and will not get made fun of.

I’m looking for something more advanced than this one-liner stuff I’m finding online. I know there’s a computer program that you can buy that gives you access to a huge baby names database but I don’t know what it’s called or how to look it up. Any help would be appreciated. A friend of mine is having a little girl named Davanie Jayde and I wanted to do something with the meaning of her name for her room.
